Bread Financial™ has continued to make meaningful strides in its efforts to invest in environmental conservation by teaming up with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), a leading global organization focused on preserving the world’s natural ecosystem. Since 2021, the company has contributed over $1.3 million to support TNC's work across the globe, while continuing to incorporate environmental conservation into its business practices to help restore, protect and raise awareness about climate change and its impacts.

The "Plant a Billion Trees" campaign is a major effort by TNC to restore forested areas and address the urgent issues of climate change and loss of biodiversity. Trees play a critical role in purifying the air, supplying fresh water, reducing the impacts of climate change and providing habitats for diverse species. Through this campaign, thousands of acres of trees are being planted in countries around the world, including Brazil, China and the United States.
To support TNC’s initiative, Bread Financial has developed unique ways to fund and bring awareness to the project, such as through its relationship with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. The company donated $2 (equivalent to planting one tree) for every attendee at select home basketball games, resulting in thousands of trees planted.
A program celebrating Earth Month and incentivizing cardholders to opt into paperless communication is another way Bread Financial continues to support the planet and the work of TNC. This April, Bread Financial is donating $2 for every customer who opts to receive paperless communication. Through this program, Bread Financial donated $300,000 in 2023 and expects to do the same in 2024. The company’s total support of TNC’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign over the past two years has yielded the planting of over 250,000 trees.
Bread Financial’s ongoing collaboration with TNC has also supported sustainable economic growth and advanced clean energy projects in India that advance the use of renewable energy, including wind and solar projects. India represents more than 17% of the world’s population, and this project aims to install 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable capacity by 2030, the majority of which will come from wind and solar energy.
